Free Parking in Calgary: Where & When
Updated June 1, 2026
You can park for free in a lot more of Calgary than people realize — you just need to know the rules. From free evenings downtown to free mall parkades, here are your best no-cost options.
Free on-street parking downtown
Most downtown ParkPlus on-street zones are free after 6pm Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday. That makes evenings and Sundays the cheapest time to drive into the core.
Loading zones allow free parking for up to 20 minutes — handy for quick pickups (always read the sign).
Always-free parking spots
Some of Calgary’s biggest destinations never charge for parking. These are reliable free options across the city.

Free park-and-ride and residential parking
Free park-and-ride: several CTrain stations and free mall lots (like Chinook Centre, right on the line) let you park free and ride into downtown.
Free residential streets: many inner-city communities have free street parking, but watch for Residential Parking Permit zones (signed “2 hour parking except by permit”) which are enforced 24/7.
