Cheap Parking in Downtown Calgary
Updated June 1, 2026
Downtown Calgary has some of the highest parking demand in the city on weekdays — but it also has some of the best-kept cheap-parking secrets. If you know when and where to look, you can park downtown for as little as $6, or nothing at all.
This guide breaks down the cheapest options by time of day, with real rates from City of Calgary and private parkades. Use the search tool to compare lots near your exact destination, or read on for the rules of thumb.
The three cheapest ways to park downtown
1. Free on-street after 6pm. Most downtown ParkPlus on-street zones are free after 6pm Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday. If you’re heading out for dinner or a show, you often pay nothing — just read the sign to confirm the zone.
2. The $6 evening/weekend parkade cap. City of Calgary parkades (City Hall, Werklund Centre, Convention Centre and more) cap at about $6 in the evenings, on weekends and on holidays. Many also give free evenings if you’ve already paid a full daily session.
3. 50% off Fridays after 11am. Downtown City parkades run a long-standing promotion of 50% off when you enter after 11am on Fridays — a great deal for a Friday lunch, appointment or early weekend start.

Cheapest by scenario
Quick errand (under 30 min): look for a loading zone (free up to 20 minutes) or pay the on-street minimum of $0.50.
A full work day: pick a City parkade with a ~$21–22 daily cap, or a surface lot on the edge of the core for $12–16. Park-and-ride from a CTrain station is cheaper still.
Evening out: free on-street after 6pm, or a $6 parkade cap. The Eau Claire parkade has a ~$5 evening flat for the riverfront.
Weekend shopping or events: $6 weekend parkade caps, or free mall parking at Chinook Centre or Market Mall just outside the core.
